The Prince of Orlando... [Spotlight Artist: Prince Greg]

With everyone now a days’ thinking they are the next big thing, there is no doubt in my mind that Orlando, Florida native Prince Greg will be big. His intricate lyrics and real world experience, reflects everything that a young black male thinks about or wants out of life. His intriguing titled mixtapes give the listeners just a preview of what type of person he truly is. Prince Greg states his claim as Rap's next king with his EP Release of   "More Than a Man" And if I can remain true to myself and be frank he has various songs that will draw the listeners in and really make you check for the next song, and the next song. So from a Prince he shall be King from what I have sampled and listened to. After releasing his last mixtape "Eagle Wings" earlier last year in March and landing on HotNewHipHop.com's Heatseekers [Edition 11], Prince Greg keeps the ball rolling with his "More Than a Man" EP  “More Than a Man” serves as a lead up to Prince Greg's upcoming mixtape “Less Than a God 2” and his newest EP release. The EP is straight to the point showcasing his aberrant & lucid lyricism, in his own words, Leave it to him to tell you why this upcoming EP is going to be worth the hear Prince Greg said "it shows why I'm up next." On "More Than a Man" Prince Greg mostly carry's the rapping torch by himself, but brings along his compadre’s Big Trin & BoGODY to take turns trading verses on the infectious  tracks "Way Too Young" & the luxuriant "Real Nigga Party". His Production finds itself ranging from EDM-Rap infused sounds to sample driven hip hop gems with credit to DJ Mustard, Cardiak, 1500 Or Nothin, The Futuristiks, @firehotbeats, Blood Diamonds, Bink & Yung Berg. Prince Greg shows immense drive and with continuous grind I wouldn’t be surprised if in the next few months his career just takes off  like a jumbo jet. Below I dig deep into who the artist known as Prince Greg is and I  find out what really inspires his music, why he named his mixtape MTAM and his process of picking songs for his mixtapes. I hope you guys enjoy the Q & A

Q & A WITH PRINCE GREG:

1.WHAT INSPIRES YOUR MUSIC?

Prince Greg : "What inspires my music is my life, my thoughts, the people I care for and everything I've been through for the most part. But also my desire to be great inspires me because at the end of the day when I'm in that grave my accomplishments will determine the imprint I made on the world."

2. WHEN DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU WANTED TO RAP?

Prince Greg : "I would always freestyle and play around with rapping from the age of 4 years old but I'd say about 6-7 years ago it grew from just a hobby to what I live for. Also just being influenced by the music and the artist of that era like Dipset, Lil Wayne & Lloyd Banks gave me a different perspective on rap from what I was use to in Florida's music scene and helped me cultivate my style."

3.HOW LONG DOES IT TYPICALLY TAKE YOU TO FIND THE RIGHT SONGS FOR YOUR MIXTAPES'?

Prince Greg : "On average I'd say it takes me 2-3 months to find the right songs for my projects. Writing and creating for me is a never ending routine but my projects usually spawn out of 4 or 5 tracks that I feel strongly about and then I build on-top of that. Along with that finding the right production for the feel and vibe of the project I'm creating plays a key & essential part in the process."

4. WHY DID YOU PICK MTAM AS A NAME FOR YOUR MIXTAPE? DID YOU HAVE OTHER CHOICES?

Prince Greg : "More Than A Man was chosen as the title because it's where I feel I am skillfully at amongst the music I hear in today's music climate. It also coincides with another mantra I love which is also a mixtape series of mine called 'Less Than A God'. I feel that when it comes down to bars & the quality of music being created I  am ahead of the pack so I am "More Than A Man", but I've yet to receive the accolades to match the skill I possess so that makes me still 'Less Than A God'. But best believe I'll reach that God status, just watch me."

King of the New South [Spotlight Artist: King Phy Da Beast]

Self-Proclaiming himself, “One of the hottest rappers on Earth.” You can’t really tell the Confident St. Petersburg, Florida native rapper King Phy he ain’t the Sugar Honey Ice Tea. He considers himself a rapper from a city that has no major support but he continues to put on for his city regardless of the skeptics. He has performed numerous shows throughout the U.S. with mainstream stars like Trick Daddy, Triple C’s, B.G. and Twista to name a few. He has also performed with local as well as indie artists. Being an 80’s baby had its’ perks and because music was so diverse back then he grew up listening to all types of music but Hip- Hop was just that genre he was naturally attracted to. He recalls being in his first group at the age of 6 and is ½ of the group “Da Real Loud Pack Mafia” ( who have been featured on worldcomeup.com) He gushes about being a great father to his sons and says Run-ins with the law and stints in jail and prison caused many setbacks in his music career but King Phy is back and ready to continue to show the world why he is King. He is anticipating the release of his latest Street Album sometime this year, “Trapping Outta Space”, which has all original production and a great balance of street life and sultry street anthems for the ladies. He comes across as a very well accepted rapper in his home town as well as in surrounding cities and states. But don't call him a rapper he prefers being called a "Clean Artist" He is also a business man and looks at himself as a mogul. He is the CEO of BUTCHA Block Muzik.  I see nothing but good for this artist as he brings Trap music a refreshing reboot with singles like “Street Dreams” and Sh*tted Again Haterz” I wish nothing but continued success to King Phy as he kicks off the new year with new music and another chance to soar in his artistry. Below are a couple links to his songs on soundcloud and official artwork for #TrappinOuttaSpace. There are also videos from a few years back that you can check out. As you guys should know I do a Q & A with the spotlight artist check out the dope responses from King Phy below.

Q & A with King Phy
[MSC]: What artist influenced you to even start making music?
[KING PHY]:2 Pac, Pimp C Rakeim, and Master P
[MSC]:What are your aspirations for your city and the future of music there?
[KING PHY]: To make the industry look here (St. Petersburg). There's a lot of talent but no major artist have come from here. Also starting a Youth Foundation to give back to the kids,  more jobs in the inner city, more business and an all around better community.
[MSC]:When is TOS dropping?
[KING PHY]: No date yet, but Soon!
[MSC]: What sets you apart from other rappers?
[KING PHY]: Even though I  do put my music online to be downloaded and viewed I am still old school with hitting the streets with music and selling it right out the back of my trunk.

Spotlight Artist: RAYMO

As you all should know I often put out APB's on artist that would like to be featured in my blog and I often get submissions from all types of genres and people within the music community. I had the pleasure of receiving a submission from a South Carolina native who resides in Colombia, SC currently. The artist goes but the name Raymo.  I would say his genre of music is quite diverse and invokes thought. He has songs that everyone can relate too. Raymo is an American Hip-Hop artist born on August 30,1991 in Walterboro, South Carolina. His moniker is the root name for Raymond David Lamar Bennett. Raymo prides himself on being original while also allowing his style of music to correlate with the rapid-changing musical trends. He is a graduate of Colleton High School in Walterboro, SC and shortly after graduating, he served our country in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. It was there that Raymo began to develop his artistry and passion for making music. Present day, we witness someone who is definitely one to watch. Get to know the Individual uniqueness of Raymo, as he shares below what sets him apart from the pack, his biggest accomplishments and what inspires his music.

   --Q and A with Raymo--
[MSC] What prompted your interest in music?
[RAYMO] My mother was a dancer and my father, a DJ, so naturally I was given the gift of rhythm. I first took up music class in elementary school playing the recorder, learning basic music notes and rhythms. In middle school I entered the beginner's band program playing the trombone. I learned a lot from my instructor Mr. Meshach and going into High School, I received the opportunity to play in the Colleton County High School Band of Blue Marching Band under band director Tom Finigan; the baritone was my instrument at the time. Studying the different chords and clefs, time changes and tempos increased my knowledge in music and allowed me to develop myself as a musician. Shortly thereafter, I picked up a pen and began my artistry.
[MSC] What about your artistry makes you different from others in your area or rappers in general?
[RAYMO] I am a musician first; not a performer, not a rapper, none of those things. I do aim to be more inclined in my musical mind so I meditate on music that some people may think is weird or abnormal for me to listen to being that I happen to rap. I love orchaestras, symphonies, classical music; basically anything that has alot of instruments and rhythms I instantly gravitate to. With my backgroud in music and me listening to music on a different plane that others, I feel as if I can make a more complete composition than what people hear in today's music when my time comes.

[MSC]  What is your biggest accomplishment to date since starting on this journey?
[RAYMO] Generally speaking, I have not had enough experience in the industry to say that I've accomplished anything yet. Overall, I'm grateful that I have this opportunity to be heard and out my stamp on music, reaching out and touching billions across the world.

[MSC] What inspires your music?
[RAYMO] God first; without him, nothing is possible. I would just say that I love genuine music that expresses all of a person's emotions.

As today marks the end to another year, I take a moment to look back at some memorable music for me in 2013 and some artist that caught my eye this year. Ten on Top Five Below(Top10andTop5)

I know Top Ten and My Top Five comes sometimes frequent and sometimes weeks may go by before I post, but it often is due to the fact that I am spending quality time with music. I am taking my time to listen to each song, album, and mixtape. I want to know how this song affects my mood. Does it keep me hype? Are the lyrics meaningful? Can I see myself in a club vibing to it? Over time I develop my all time favorites because you know you like a song when you find yourself playing it everyday. It's something like a classic song like "Georgia Dome" by the Ying Yang Twins. If I was to hear that it would take me back to when it came out and how much I enjoyed it then. Some of the songs are repeats and some are old classics that I just can't get enough of and others are new to some and old to others. Enjoy the list music lovers and I am looking to check out  female RNB, Rap,Pop,Soul, and Hip Hop artist if you read this blog and know of anyone I am placing my email below. If you are already making music and want people to know more about you and would like to be featured on E2TS you can also use the email.
Enjoy My musical selections

The Only Show 112213 Review

Last month I had the pleasure of attending The Only Show 11/22/13 sponsored by CLP Nation. The Only Show was a rap showcase/mini concert  that was orchestrated by a group of creative and crazy talented
emcees. I would describe there flow style or their genre type to be indie rap, underground, or something I like to call knowledge on the fly. Each artist has their own unique style and it shows with their personal style, demeanor, and stage presence. Upon receiving an invite via Facebook for the event months prior I had already peeped the event coming together on my timeline. You could tell the artist were excited and you knew when they were working on something creative. SHOUT OUT! to whomever made those dope ass gold Pyramids. That's a definite souvenir that I've tucked away. Well dang my shout out kinda ruined my story but anyways...  I don't usually venture out too often if the scene isn't something I am interested in or have a curiosity towards but I had been listening or had heard songs from a few of the artist and was pretty excited to check it out live. The Only show was promoted by not only myself but by the countless CLP Nation Fans yes they have real life ye ye ye Wild man call Live Action Fans! And believe me when I say they go so hard! The artists' also pumped major promo on the web as the weeks slowly crept away. Once October turned to November I had already r.s.v.ped to Facebook standards and had further confirmed my attendance by purchasing a ticket to the show. I didn't know what to expect but as the weeks went by and my ticket was personally delivered by one of the  CLP scientist, Alec Burnright(ABR). He further confirmed how awesome the show was going to be. As the week of the show came to an end Friday 11-22-2013 was finally here. Pre show pictures of props popped up a few hours before the show and you could tell time had been spent making them and I can appreciate individuals being creative any day. I was impressed by the artistry of each artist that I got to see. Unfortunately due to my guest being tired from a long days work I had to leave early but was able to catch ABR being super hype, shook hands with the mastermind behind The Seminar, and caught Scott Tanner, SuCoo and Alec Burnright and Dilligaf kill it on stage. From what I saw I was glad that I had attended the event and enjoyed the mix crowd of people. It was refreshing to be in a room full of good vibes and great music. I would not pass up another opportunity to attend another show by CLP Nation or any of the artist that performed. I also would like to bring up  that when I attend shows I am not only listening for new artist to check out, I'm also looking at everything you bring as an artist. I personally think presentation is everything and from the way tickets were given out with the awesome pyramids to the artists' stage presence I was impressed. In school you get a grade for participation and the crowd  all got A's  in participation because the emcees interacted well and got them involved. I think an artist that can control his audience has them under his or her spell and Crowd participation was incredible and the energy that they had reflected whatever artist graced the stage. They were so live and the crowd really responded well to them. The even took place at a venue called The Cycle Lounge. I had been hearing a lot about it so I was glad I was able to check it out as well. I would recommend all of the artist for immediate review because the crafts that they have are definitely dope and underestimated. Below I have listed artist information for each artist and my favorite song from each artist. Enjoy the musical collection of some very dope emcees. Please share this review and check out each artist and CLP Nation for more information.

The Savage is Back and Trill as Ever

If you have ever popped in a Trill Fam artist album or mixtape you are automatically hype from start to finish. No matter whose main project it is you will find collabos' from damn near everybody from Trill Fam, but with the lost of Lil Phat and Lil Boosie still incarcerated I personally found the most recent mixtape from Webbie, "Sweet Jones Jr",(Link to that Review Below) had fallen short to what I had enjoyed as a Webbie fan. I was anxious and anticipated a better body of work with "Savage Life 4" which dropped today. I must say I am happy and proud to announce that Webbie is back! From the moment I heard "I'm Back" start I knew my ears were going to be pleasantly pleased. Not only was it classic Webbie he was letting the fans in to what had been transpiring for the last few months and year. As always Webbie delivers his street anthems, as well as his raunchy yet sexy street ballads for the ladies. I love it when an artist really puts so much time and dedication into a project that it shows from start to finish. He did amazing collabos' with Blake, Lil Phat, Lil Trill and Lloyd. With his fire beats being produced solely by J. Reid and Trae Beats Productions. I have included a list of my favorites off the album and strongly encourage all true Webbie fans to press play.I think this was a great way to bring on the new year as it was originally suppose to be released October 1st of this year.I expect to hear Webbie's voice coming out most car speakers for the next few weeks, even months as this one like the other three "Savage Life" installations were straight fire. If you would like to buy or listen to SL4 and witness the come back of greatness there is a link below. Also I have included the Track List which is for the Deluxe Edition and it is just three bonus songs (18-20). The Deluxe Edition is available on iTunes for $11.99 or $1.29 per song.#SL4 is that snap, crackle and pop, Webbie is back! I hope you all enjoyed my review of an instant classic and enjoy listening to the album as much as I did.
