Video Bomb: What's Love|A.V. w/ Rate

First and foremost shout out to A.V. for coming hard on a sample and further more channeling this weird Soulja Slim / B.G. vibe. I'll be honest and say I didn't expect this much raw and real rap on this track. The video is Directed by Motion Minds, and while most rappers do visuals where there are home scenes or studio scenes I thought it was appropriate for this video and made it more lovable. The fact that this is a Florida bred rapper sounding like he from New Orleans is a pleasant surprise.  I love finding hidden gems like this. The content is relatable to anyone living the street life or knows loss of someone who lives or lived that lifestyle. A.V. touches on personal accounts of dangerous situations he faced as an adolescent, as well as the all to familiar reality that a lot of young black male's face with incarceration. When I first heard the Tina sample I wasn't sure what to expect given Tina was recounting an abusive relationship in the original. Yet I love the twist the sample presented with a real rap feel. I feel like as powerful as the message was he and his videographer could have come up with a lot more as far as a story line. I did enjoy seeing A.V. in almost a reflective state when he was in the living room and the family portraits were being shown. I really like this song and can't wait to see what A.V. and Wynners Circle have up their sleeves. 2016 Recap| 20 X 16

Happy New Year From #E2TS!!

Where has this year gone? No like seriously I feel like the masses are just now finding out that you can be ugly and be your daddy son or that You can steal her man. Let's not forget that we loss Prince, Shawty Lo and Bank Roll Fresh this year (Amongst others). I won't even forget to mention that thanks to the Mannequin challenge that I will dub 2 Chainz's originally since his video is where I first saw it being executed flawlessly actually made Rae Sremmurd's song Black Beatles blow up like bomb. Or that Snoop encouraged the bubble gum, mumble rappers to continue to do what they do. Why he did that, the world may never know but it appears that Lil Uzi Vert, Desiigner, 21 Savage and (my personal favorite ) 22 Savage can still continue to deface the foundation of music.Even though I must admit a few of these mumble bee's are catchy and I couldn't help but add a few tracks to my personal playlist. The different challenges that made everyone a rapper was interesting to see.  I have tried to cover everything under the sun in this recap. All the way to the fact that I spent two full weeks binge watching a biopic series about Celia Cruz which consisted of 80 episodes all in Spanish with English subtitles. No I will not be giving a recap on the show but if you are not familiar with who Celia Cruz was, stop reading this, open another tab and google her. Below I have compiled my top 20 tracks of 2016 and it was so hard to compile a years worth of music into 20 songs and to follow it up with 16 mixtapes/ albums. This years music selections were hot and gives so much promise to what 2017 will produce. I want to also Thank You guys for checking out my blog. 2017 is going to be an amazing year and I wish all artist and musically based professionals great prosperity in this upcoming New Year. May you all be blessed and keep your Ears to the Street.

#LongLiveShawtyLo|RIP Shawty Lo

 March 31 1976 - September 21, 2016

With heavy hearts Ear 2 The Streets has to report that Atlanta Rapper Carlos Walker better known as Shawty Lo passed away early Wednesday morning in a single car accident on I 285 in Atlanta. Fulton County police say the crash happened around 2:20 a.m. when the 2016 Audi that Shawty Lo was driving crashed over a guardrail, hit several trees and caught fire at the Cascade Road exit. The police department says the 40 year-old was ejected and died at the
scene. Two women were also in the car and were injured and taken to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries. After initial reports of the crash were reported  it was thought to have been a hit-and-run, but Fulton police spokeswoman Cpl. Maureen Smith said,“It has been confirmed now that it was a single car accident.” His manager confirmed the news on Shawty Lo's Twitter account putting out a statement. ( Below with others reactions) From Ms. Street Cred directly I am sending out my condolences to his family and friends. I can only imagine what they all are going through.May his soul rest in peace. I definitely will miss the music that this man made and I hate that the rap community taking yet another L. He will truly be missed. Check out some of his most iconic visuals below.  His camp did release his final visuals last night and I will do a separate entry on "Put Some Respek On It" in the very near future.
