The Saint Pete Cypher| #TBT

This cypher video is something I found insanely dope and what topped it off was it is homegrown and I definitely wanted to share with the world some dope Emcee's straight out of the 727. I live for conscious artist and people that evoke thought. I think they all had their own way of opening peoples third eye. I thought this would be perfect for a #TBT given it was done 5 years ago. Each artist has a unique sound and the lyrical content is there. From my own observation

CGE Video Bomb w/ Rate (Insider Edition)

So this specific video bomb is near and dear to me because my camp is responsible for this production, Special thanks to 12/12 Production for their awesome videography skills. This video features WeBandz artist Cea$ar Christian and fellow St.Petersburg rapper Paublo Patrick. When the two collabed on this track I don't think any of us fathomed exactly what this video was going to convey all we knew was that we needed it to be " Poppin ". The beat is produced by our in house lead producer Tango who is also featured in the video along side Cea$ar and Paublo. With the larger than life lyrics from Cea$ar Christian, Paublo Patrick adds his real life lyrics to create a perfect combination. While this is my camp I felt the need to give an unbiased critique of something I had a role into bringing to fruition. While overall I am happy with the quality of the finished product, I felt that the girl chosen as the video girl should have been better selected.  She lacked the visual presence we needed and  she lacked the dance moves. Ironically as a collective we shared a few laughs about her moves and even named them. I thought Cea$ar Christian has a presence about him that assist his rapping style. His style is like none other and his usual swag went well with the concept. Paublo Patrick's delivery was  a direct reflection of him as an artist, although some people who had the opportunity to check out the visuals prior to the release did not like his energy it is my knowledge of his artistry that allows me to appreciate his calm never over the top demeanor. Cea$ar Christian took a more materialistic approach to "Poppin" while Paublo touched on real life scenarios in his usual prophet delivery manner. The visuals showcased a closed set scene, scenes from MLK 2017, and an outdoor scene featuring a dope Chevy with switches.  For this to be our first video it is perfect, but it is  a pivotal example for future visuals from Cheddar Gang. I am proud to be apart of a great concept and I pray we continue to help artist evolve as we embark on our musical journey as a whole. Please check out the visuals for "Poppin" below and be sure to connect with the artist as well. My full rate is below and any and all criticism is appreciated and wanted. The song will be available on Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal and all other outlets on 2/1.

Video Bomb: What's Love|A.V. w/ Rate

First and foremost shout out to A.V. for coming hard on a sample and further more channeling this weird Soulja Slim / B.G. vibe. I'll be honest and say I didn't expect this much raw and real rap on this track. The video is Directed by Motion Minds, and while most rappers do visuals where there are home scenes or studio scenes I thought it was appropriate for this video and made it more lovable. The fact that this is a Florida bred rapper sounding like he from New Orleans is a pleasant surprise.  I love finding hidden gems like this. The content is relatable to anyone living the street life or knows loss of someone who lives or lived that lifestyle. A.V. touches on personal accounts of dangerous situations he faced as an adolescent, as well as the all to familiar reality that a lot of young black male's face with incarceration. When I first heard the Tina sample I wasn't sure what to expect given Tina was recounting an abusive relationship in the original. Yet I love the twist the sample presented with a real rap feel. I feel like as powerful as the message was he and his videographer could have come up with a lot more as far as a story line. I did enjoy seeing A.V. in almost a reflective state when he was in the living room and the family portraits were being shown. I really like this song and can't wait to see what A.V. and Wynners Circle have up their sleeves. Connect with A.V. below through his social media accounts and check out my official rate for the video below!

Fast Money Ferrari| Video Bomb w/ Rate "Married to The Game" Cover

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. I am not a big fan of cover's or remixes unless you really take it there. I wasn't too impressed with the cover, given I don't really care for that particular Future song. It has it's moments but it's not a personal favorite to me. The only thing that set this apart  from the original was the fact that I could make out what he was saying unlike Future he wasn't mumbling out his lyrics. He did hit on apparent memories and life woes and that made the content relatable. If artist were on original beats I believe they could actually hook their audience with everything they offer. I must admit I love when St. Pete artist showcase the beautiful sights and people that reside here. I am still getting familiar with Fast Money Ferrari and pin pointing exactly his caliber of rapper.I do not think he is just a cover rapper and I am excited to see this young man further build his craft. The video was shot by Aone Lenz Productions and while I'm not to familiar with the videographer's work yet, I am hopeful of what they have to come as far as visuals are concerned. Please take the time to  check out my official rate as well as the visuals for "Charge it to the Game"  below.
