CrunkCoco|Spotlight Artist

"I do videos to express myself on a song and to also promote the song and artist."
--CrunkCoco

Courtney Fraser Jr B.K.A CrunkCoco is an explosion of Crunkness from
St.Petersburg, Florida. He was born February 11th 1993 and embraces his half Jamaican heritage. As a child CrunkCoco had it rough. He always had a different personality and people didn't understand him. He found himself the center of ridicule and bullies in school and after school camps, and would have to defend himself which would lead to more trouble. After years of feeling excluded from everybody else CrunkCoco showed interest in a school photography class and from there he began recording videos of him dancing. From there he entered talent shows and started performing covers of Ciara songs. He would attend teen parties and he would dance everywhere he went. Thanks to that photo class CrunkCoco used the school's camera to make his first video "Who You Finna Try" He used social media and uploaded the video on Facebook where it got popular and was shared over 25,000 times. It then made it to WorldStarHipHop and it became worldwide. Everybody was chanting "Who You Finna Try" and after people started copying him making parody videos of the catchy chant the popularity grew for the song and CrunkCoco experienced something he had been wanting, acceptance. He continued to make videos doing eccentric and crunk parody covers of artist like Nicki Minaj,K. Michelle, and Ciara to name a few and a few years later a couple of his videos made it on tv overseas. He has been featured on WorldStarHiphop a total of 10 times, the local news 3 times and has appeared on shows like "Upload With Shaquille O'Neal" and "106 and  Park". His Youtube channel has 25 million views in total and He has built relationships with celebrities like K. Michelle,Nicki Minaj,Trina,Redd(BGC), Judi(BGC), Jessica Dime(LHHATL) Shekinah(T.I.& Tiny) and more. He has also teamed up with fellow Youtube stars Emmanuel and Phillip Hudson and other Youtube sensations. CrunkCoco is not afraid to take risk and has an air about him that exudes a confidence you can not buy. He considers himself a free spirit and does what he believes in. "I do videos to express myself on a song and to also promote the song and artist." He says. Having musical idols like Ciara, Lil Jon, Nicki Minaj and St. Petersburg's own Cristol and Heather Marie. CrunkCoco took a liking to music when he watched Ciara and Lil Jon both perform on stage and had dreams of He too one day gracing stages and captivating an audience. He enjoyed how Lil Jon hyped the crowd up after a show he saw and from there he was hooked. He has released songs like "Backed Up Doo Doo"(which dropped two years ago), "Crunker Than A Mofo"(Currently being pushed), "Crunk Ain't Dead ft. Skitsarena"(which obtained 1 million views on YouTube) and more. He has been featured on Talio's "Get CrunkCoco". CrunkCoco is currently working on new music, had his own merchandise start with the CrunkCoco T shirts and now he's took his merchandise a step further with his own socks.  He is continuing to grow his fan base and He's ready for whatever the world throws at him because.... He Crunker Than A Mofo! As always I took the time to chop it up with CrunkCoco so check out our quick interview below as well as ways to interact and connect with him and some of his content.

Q & A with CrunkCoco

[M$C]: After the dancing and the parody covers videos, why did you want to do your own music?

[CrunkCoco]: I wanted to do my own music because it allowed me to reach more people  and to also put all the things people think I say crazy in a format that they could understand. I feel like when Lil Jon was doing crunk it was hot and I want to bring it back in my own way with my creative ideas.

[M$C]: What has been the biggest challenge since pursing a career as an entertainer?

[CrunkCoco]: The biggest challenge for me has been dealing with sneaky snakes in this dirty industry. People will try and use your name and you to get money and power. You don't know who to trust and if someone has your best intentions in mind.

[M$C]: What are your top 5 goals to accomplish by 25?

[CrunkCoco]: My top 5 goals to accomplish by the time I'm 25 are

  1. Have my own show or be a regular on a show
  2. Be casted in movies
  3. Have a CD out and tour
  4. Start my own clothing line
  5. Have my own record label

[M$C]: What is something or someone that pushes you to accomplish your dreams?

[CrunkCoco]: Something or someone that pushes me to accomplish my dreams is my family, my fans and keeping my haters mad.

#TBT Video Bomb| Boweeva X Franchise X Fo- Sheezy w/o Rate

Even though this video is two years old its only right that for #TBT I did a rare No rate on a few local artist from St. Petersburg. Fo-Sheezy, Franchise, and Boweeva are similar in content but all very different in their delivery. Each man displays his own persona and all compliment the song. Given that it is based off one of the most popular comedians out now "Kevin Hart" the cameos from random people saying a popular line from one of Hart's skits from his stand up "Laugh at My Pain" made the video enjoyable. I did like each artist and hope you guys enjoy this #TBT video.

Spotlight Artist| Paublo Patrick

Despite the all to familiar scenario of being brought up by a single parent, St.Petersburg,Fl native and local rap newcomer Paublo Patrick has dealt with his share of life woes. Being one of 7 Paublo has dealt with the unpredictability of life early on. From the death of his mom who died when he was just 8 years old and then transitioning to being raised by his grandparents. Like most rappers there is a path that one took and the territory that comes with the Street life has gotten him in a few situations resulting in a grazed head from a bullet, programs designed to deter him from prison and even a few stints in the county jail. Despite his rough start, three years ago Paublo Patrick made the conscious decision to put his focus on something that everyone could relate to, music. In the 2011- 2012 year he started out as a duo along side his cousin called 2 Gutta  they both decided to join a larger group of artist who were spear headed by Mareese Speights and his  BPM group. Due to visionary differences Paublo left and joined Aleem at Paper Up Ent but later left due to a short stint in jail in the 2013-2014 year and upon his release in Decemeber decide to in his words keep it real with himself and the people and decided to be be himself and  pursue a solo career. Even though he isn't signed with anyone and is technically a free agent in the rap game, he is now affilated with the 10 Hunnit movement which is home to St.Pete artists Young Teo,Florida Missle, & TMoe. Prior to being Paublo Patrick he went by the moniker PDub aka Mr. IDGAF. It was a nickname that he had been called since he was 13 and he still goes by dub in the hood. He used the name Paublo as like a new born of Paul Patrick and has been running with Paublo Patrick ever since.  When asked about his music he says "My goal is to touch those who have been through hard and rough times. Those who have experienced some of the things I have and haven't." Given that he is just three years in he is a driven unpredictable individual when it comes to his craft. His  "Lifes a Struggle Vol. 2" dropped  December 26 of last year. He has blessed the listeners with an official single off his current  project "Lifes a Struggle Vol. 1"  titled "3921" Which is where Paublo says it all started. It is the address of his grandparents home where he grew up and the place that played a major role in his life. "3921" is his biggest project to date.  In the last few months Paublo has been doing shows, video shoots, promo at clubs and in the studio working on his upcoming mixtape. He has been building an extensive collection of his music and has videos via youtube under his previous stage name "Pdub as well as under Paublo. He did a mixtape with BPM called "Will I Make It." which has a video called " Can't Fuck With Me" with Lil Shad & TMoe both gracing the track as well as a project still in the process with Blood Raw. He also has a few unreleased tracks that may or may not get heard but it's apparent that Paublo Patrick is working and growing momentum as he has been working on the Video for an upcoming track called "Ride On'em" Be on the look out for this young and fresh new artist as he adds to the stable of growing rap artist out of St.Petersburg FL.

Q & A with Paublo Patrick
[MSC]: Since starting out how has the music game been good or bad for you?
[Paublo Patrick]: With the music game, it seems lonely as hell. Some like you, and some just don't know why they don't like you. So, Good or Bad- more like Hot or Not. Worthy or Unworthy. Seems like they all want someone they can get over on. But uses they talent for show.

[MSC]: I see you have been affiliated with a few different camps, do you get criticized for being a flip flopper?

[Paublo Patrick]:You know things get back to you in this small place. Of course I hear things in songs around the way, but it's never direct, so I just let it blow in the wind.

[MSC]: What artist in the game inspired you to pursue rapping?

[Paublo Patrick]: My big homies were 2Pac fans. I came up on Boosie & Webbie. Boosie reminds me of 2Pac. He used to talk right through me. I'm inspired by them & now Kevin Gates. I can say da same about Gates. "Real Recognizes Real"

[MSC]:What do you hope to accomplish outside of being an artist?

[Paublo Patrick]: I Pray and Hope to Become a Successful Black Man in This World and Lifetime, Period. "Straight, Get What You Put In!"
